The NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) passed a resolution to halt the expansion of charter schools late this summer. This resolution has many scratching their heads as a majority of charter schools serve inner-city areas and ultimately, the black community.
The Wall Street Journal published an article outlining the problem and what the NAACP's support of this resolution could do for this community.
The NAACP convenes tomorrow, Saturday, October 15, to vote on a proposed moratorium on new charter schools. The proposed resolution could reduce educational opportunities for African American students. To let the NAACP know how this moratorium could affect scores of families, contact your local branch of the NAACP or send an automated message to the NAACP here.
